Speed Communications has been presented with the Freshest Corporate Communications Campaign Gold Award at the Fresh PR Awards 2015 for its media relations in raising the profile of its client, Wincanton and the wider logistics industry.

Entitled ‘Awaking a sleeping industry’, the winning entry recognised Speed Communication’s outstanding approach to raising awareness of the often-overlooked logistics industry, which employs 2.2 million people and contributes £74.5bn to the UK economy.

Working on behalf of the largest British logistics business, Speed Communication has been responsible for increasing publicity around key industry topics such as the growing driver shortage, the impact of a growing e-economy, and the drive for more ecologically mindful logistics.

Subsequently Wincanton has become the go-to commentator on a wider range of issues, alongside customers, industry bodies and political figures.

The campaign has resulted in Wincanton’s share of voice in the media growing ten-fold in the past year, resulting from over 500 pieces of coverage with an audience of more than 31 million readers.

The judges were impressed by the approach of the campaign, which engaged journalists from across a wide range of media, and the creative approach taken for what is an established and traditional industry.
