For the past decade, Speed has worked with the beautiful 5* Celtic Manor Resort, based in Newport. You may have read the blog post earlier this month about how Team Speed promoted a weekend of ponies and picnics for Polo at the Manor. Just two weeks after the success of the Polo, it was time for the resort’s annual charity golf tournament: Celebrity Cup!
Celtic Manor Resort’s annual celebrity golf tournament sees stars from the worlds of sport and showbiz descend on the resort to raise money for charity. This year’s line up included Mike Tindall, James Nesbitt, Jenny Falconer, Ronan Keating and the cast of Mrs Brown’s Boys, so we knew we were in for a treat!
Our task: to drive ticket sales for this event and build fame for the resort. This year, Speed were not only briefed to manage PR, but Speed Studio were also brought in for the first time to drive social engagement and capture content.
Pre-event we focused on regional coverage to drive ticket sales and the social team developed strategic and engaging content to create a buzz in the fortnight leading up to the big weekend.
Throughout the event itself, the team managed a fast-paced media centre with more than 30 media onsite. Meanwhile, Speed Studio acted as roaming reporters, capturing and creating compelling content throughout the weekend to drive engagement and reach for Celtic Manor Resort’s digital channels.
The results: more than 150 pieces of coverage have been generated to date, including 19 national articles, with the Mail Online covering the event 10 times throughout the weekend!
As for social, across Facebook and Twitter the content achieved more than 600,000 impressions whilst Celebrity Cup videos posted on Instagram were viewed more than 7,000 times.
